Our team is made up of 18 undergraduate Science, Engineering and Education students from the University of Glasgow.

Project Leader

Fraser Baird

Fraser is 20 years old and studying Physics with Astrophysics. Fraser is the creator and showrunner of this project. He has obtained funding, equipment, industry contacts and a team - everything he needs to get Project F.A.B off the ground (literally).

Deputy Project Leader

Rhiannon Beaton

Rhiannon is 20 years old and studying Physics with Astrophysics. Rhiannon is Fraser’s second-in-command and helps to create lesson plans and equipment for the project. She also takes charge of our Social Media, and was leader of our Pressure and Temperature experimental team.

Chief Programmer

Scott Maxwell

Scott is a 20 year old computer whizz studying Physics. He created our F.A.Bulous website and will help to design the after school programming classes that will be available to students.

The Dream Team

Andrew Chan

Andrew is 20 years old and studying Aeronautical Engineering. His main task in Project F.A.B is to use his knowledge of aeronautics to control the descent of the balloons.

Peter Dagen

Peter is 21 years old and studying Physics. He has developed lesson plans to teach primary school children about the relationship between pressure and temperature. Peter is a member of our Gravitational experimental team.

Hannah Doran

Hannah is 21 years old and studying Physics with Astrophysics. She has written lesson plans regarding climate change and CFCs, and is also a member of our Climate Change experimental group.

Sara Jokela

Sara is 21 years old and studying Physics and Astronomy. Sara created lesson plans that deal with the basic laws of physics and gravity, and worked on our Climate Change experiment.

Ross Kennedy

Ross is 20 years old and studying Physics and Astronomy. He is helping to monitor the website and to build the payloads for the balloons, particularly parachute deployment.

Sam Kershaw

Sam is 21 years old and studying Physics. His main responsibilities are writing code for the payload equipment and helping to design the programming classes that will be available to students. He also took charge of our Climate Change experimental team.

Sophie Law

Sophie is 20 years old and studying Physics with Astrophysics. She has developed lesson plans regarding climate change and renewable energy. She also worked on the Climate Change team, leading it for a short while before circumstances prevented her having such a large role. She also liases with external media on behalf of the project.

Sophie Lawson

Sophie is 21 years old and studying Physics with Astrophysics. She has designed lesson plans to explain how cosmic rays are produced, and is a member of our Pressure and Temperature experimental group.

Cristina Marin

Cristina is 22 years old and studying Neuroscience. She is writing code for the payload equipment and developing the lesson plans for the programming classes, and is a member of our Gravity experimental group.

Catriona Marr

Catriona is 21 years old and studying Theoretical Physics. She is helping to develop the code which will run on the equipment for the payloads, focusing on Pressure and Temperature.

Connor McIsaac

Connor is 21 years old and studying Physics with Astrophysics. He has written lesson plans regarding the relationship between pressure and temperature. He is the leader of our Gravity team.

Euan McMurtrie

Euan is 20 years old and studying Physics with Astrophysics. He is writing code for the payload equipment and designing the programming lessons that will be taught in after school classes. Euan is also a member of our Pressure and Temperature team.

Sarah Paterson

Sarah is 19 years old and studying Physics with Astrophysics. She has developed lesson plans to teach primary school children about the production of cosmic rays.

Hannah Spencer

Hannah is 20 years old and studying Education. She has contributed to the educational aspect of the project.

Natalie B. Williams

Natalie is 20 years old and studying Physics with Astrophysics. She has designed lesson plans that explain how cosmic rays are produced, and is a member of our Gravitational team.

Chief Adviser

Prof. Caspar Clark

Caspar is CTO of Helia Photonics Ltd. and Visiting Professor at the University of the West of Scotland. He advises us on just about everything you could imagine.

University of Glasgow Advisers

Prof. Martin Hendry

Martin is Head of School of Physics and Astronomy and Chair of IOP Scotland, and acts as an adviser on the management and expansion of the Project.

Dr. David Mahon

David is part of the University’s Nuclear Physics group, working on Cosmic Ray Muography. He aids us mostly in the development of our cosmic ray experiment.

Prof. Craig Buttar

Craig is a member of the Particle Physics Experimental group, and also aids us with the cosmic ray experiment.

Dr. Dima Maneuski

Dima is also a member of the Particle Physics Experimental group. He works very closely with us on the cosmic ray experiment.

Prof. Graham Woan

Graham is a member of the Astronomy group at Glasgow. He has aided us greatly in using radio waves to track our payloads.
